Children of Hags: photographer captures heterochromians with different-coloured eyes

“Heterochromia - Children of Hags” is a conceptual photography project by Amsterdam based Lithuanian photographer and Llamas’ Valley contributor Maria Cavali. The photographer keeps looking for people who have differently coloured eyes and photographs them. The project started as a conceptual idea of an identity project. It continued as mythological research and now it has developed into something extremely adventurous. Maria says she feels absolutely in love with all the people she photographs and the amazing stories she’s been able to hear and share. For her it’s an absolute blessing to meet so many beautiful and unique personalities from different parts of the world. Maria sees “Heterochromia - Children of Hags” as her life project as she wants to keep documenting the lives of people with different-colored eyes all over the world and this takes time and resources. The photographer recently started an online magazine “Heterochromia” dedicated to her project. People keep contacting Maria after discovering her project through social networks, although she says she’d like to find more heterochromians over 30 as most of her recent “models” are younger. “I’m simply trying to get the real data on Heterochromia because different information sources provide you with different facts. I’m also researching various myths and legends and I can say that the mythological side of Heterochromia is absolutely fascinating”, Maria says. “The future is an interesting thing, I love what I do, I’m inspired each and every time I photograph or simply meet people with Heterochromia! I love sharing their inspiring stories and to inspire others. And finally, I want to publish a book about my project.”

The website of “Heterochromia - Children of Hags” is coming soon. Meanwhile, you can follow “Heterochromia - Children of Hags” on Facebook or browse the online magazine “Heterochromia”.
